The trip through Austria, Liechtenstein and Switzerland
A short video and a few pictures from this year's trip through Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.
The video shows the Austrian Alps:
Germany to Switzerland border crossing over the river Rhine
Crossing the Gernamy to Switzerland customs. Cars go without stopping.
To use Swiss motorways you have to buy a vignette that is around £35.00, lasts till the end
of the current year, and you can buy one here, while crossing the border as well.

The diesel price in Switzerland, near the German border.
Despite Switzerland being not an EU member and being not in Euro zone, the prices here still displayed
in Euros. Further into Switzerland and the diesel price goes all the way to 1.85-1.90 Euros per liter,
that is 1.62-65 in British pounds.
Switzerland to Austria border. Here cars also go without and stops.
Actually, the only border checks during the whole length of our holiday,
where we visited France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Italy,
we were stopped only on the UK - France - UK border.
This is a laugh, as UK and France are the EU members, and Switzerland is not :) .
All ALDIs supermarkets in Austria are named as Hofer.
This supermarket is located just a few kilometres from the border.
The diesel price here, as in Germany, Switzerland and Italy is always lower than the
price of petrol, and on this station I paid for diesel 1.19 Euros that was £1.05 in GBP
A few hundred meters from the Hofer we popped into the
Interspar Supermarket, that is like our Asda or Tesco, but larger with a wider choice.
Despite prices of diesel being much lower in Austria than in UK, the prices for food are
around 15% higher.

Austrians noticeably like their Rye bread. Wide choice of it.
The size of this loaf is about 40 centimeters.
Crossing the Austria to Liechtenstein border.
This is perhaps called: Welcome to Liechtenstein :)
Almost of all the sides Liechtenstein is surrounded by the Alps but
its area in itself is very flat.
Crossing the border between Liechtenstein and Switzerland. Cars go without any stops or delays.
In the Swiss town of Haag. On the way to Luzern.
In the center of Lucerne, by the Lake of Luzern that is a large lake surrounded by the Alps.
After Lucerne we went to Zurich and arrived back to Herrischried village at about nine in the evening.
For the whole of this trip took more than 15 hours, and we covered 430 km, or 260 miles. The journey was very interesting.
